Comment On Oliver Eldridge Pastels Shown On Friday

Posting Number 3248   Date: 08/12/19     Return to Posting List

In the Eldridge drawing, in the lower right, is there any more notation other than the word "cocktail?" (No) That drawing looks remarkably similar to the Stevens and Williams goblets that are so often misidentified as Steuben.

Having said that, there are Steuben goblets that are close to the Eldridge drawing. See for example 3107 and 7284, although note that the stems on these two are different than the stems on the Eldridge drawing. Scott Hansen of CT

SYMPOSIUM HIGHLIGHTS

Carder Steuben Decorations

Frederick Carder was the king of decorations. There are nearly 100 different decorations listed in the Clubs shape gallery, and there are regular and frequent questions and discussions among collectors concerning the many different decorating applications and techniques.

Christa Westbrook started working in CMOGs The Studio since 2012, first as a Studio Assistant and now in her current role as Studio Coordinator. Christa teaches classes both in flameworking and in furnace glassblowing. In the Studio Hot Shop, Christa will be demonstrating a number of Carders decorating techniques, including pulled feather, prunts, lip wrap and iridescence. This is a rare opportunity to watch how some of these techniques are done and develop a new appreciation of the many decorations that Carder Steuben glass has to offer.

Symposium registration information can be found below or at www.cardersteubenclub.org. The registration deadline is September 1.

Symposium Program and Registration

The Carder Steuben Symposium program and registration materials are now also on the Club's website.
