BOWL ON BASE, 1943

This is a Bowl on base. It was manufactured by Steuben Glass Works. It is dated 1943 and we acquired it in 1960. Its medium is glass. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department. It is credited Gift of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Wiesenberger.

VASE (USA), CA. 1930

This is a Vase. It was manufactured by Steuben Glass Works. It is dated ca. 1930 and we acquired it in 1969. Its medium is glass. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.

APPLE SCULPTURE, 1940

This is a Sculpture. It was manufactured by Steuben Glass Works. It is dated 1940 and we acquired it in 1967. Its medium is blown and applied glass. It is a part of the Product Design and Decorative Arts department.

Steuben Glass Works was a large American art glass manufacturer founded in 1903 in Corning, New York. The firm produced an enormous variety of wares, from vases to dinnerware and beyond. This realistic form made of solid glass with an applied glass stem was designed by Angus McDougall in 1940 as part of Steubens ornamental line. It was re-released in 1993 to celebrate Steubens ninetieth anniversary. It is credited Gift of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Wiesenberger.

As one of her research interests, Gail Bardhan, retired librarian from the Rakow Research Library at CMoG, kept a list of American museums with Carder glass in their collection. I have used her research to find examples of Carder glass in the collection of the Cooper Hewitt. Scott Hansen
