From The Movies

Alan, The movie Risky Business starring Tom Cruise, showcased a crystal egg by Steuben on the fireplace mantel that was his mother's favorite piece!!! Darby P. Webster

Is Seeing Believing?

The discussion of movie props is very interesting and I have no doubt about the information provided on these items. However, I have met and discussed knockoffs with some of the people active in the 50's and 60's who made them, often for places like restaurants/bars and perhaps for movie and TV props; it was a great excuse to make these "fakes" many of which are almost undetectable because the makers had all the skills of the original factory workers. These entrepeneurs may have forgotten to sign a couple. Sorry I can no longer remember the names of the folks who admitted to this. Just wondering if those that were broken in movies may have been fakes!.

Hope everyone is getting outside and getting fresh air and exercise while staying safe.
