Excellent article that David Goldstein wrote . We bought from and learned from all the dealers David mentioned.We went far and near to Antiques shows seeking Carder pieces until there were fewer( rare) pieces and fewer shows.David Goldstein is correct in every thing he said, except most young people are not interested in buying glass or china or silver etc.Most do not have the extra money nor do they want the clutter that collecting brings. I have this fabulous collection of Carder Steuben and new Steuben that my own adult kids have no interest in keeping. So far I have not heard anything from my grown grandchildren. My home would be naked with out all the beautiful glass nor would I be able to entertain my guests with the history of Carder Steuben and the stories of our conquests. Giving it to a museum or university to put in storage does not appeal to me nor did it to my husband David,who was the real collector. It is a shame that at the present ,it seems, I could not recoup much of what we spent,If I sold at auction,if there still are any decent auctions At some time, hopefully ,not in the near future ,my children will be left to dispose of a house full of beautiful objects of art. What is the answer to this question? My opinion to David Goldstein's quest for a Carder Steuben blog ,even though a good idea, is that it would be reaching and preaching to, most of the same old congregants.
